Where have I been this summer?

Here is a random tree that I look at from my side porch when I read outside.
Booyah!

HELLO EVERYONE!

I took the summer off from blogging! And from Twitter (mostly). I didn't have to, it wasn't required. I just wanted to. I've been blogging fairly regularly for over six years and life has been hella busy lately, and I just wanted to take some time off.

This summer: I took my kids to the movies. We went bowling. We went to the library a thousand times. We binged on Netflix shows and also Amazon Prime, and we watched more than our fair share of Redbox movies. We watched the Olympics. We read together. At the beginning of our summer, we took a massive road trip across the country. I went to Orlando to ALA.

This summer: I also spent some time working through some of my own issues with my dad's health and my grief and anxiety related to it. Books have been my friend, but they've been my friend on my own terms. I've read them without blogging about them. I think I'm ready to blog again.

I reviewed books quite a bit on Goodreads, and it felt so freeing just to be on Goodreads only. Wow.

These days, I'm most active on Litsy. Over the summer, my Litsy presence never changed. I was there almost every single day, and I don't plan to change that. I'll talk more about Litsy a little later, but you can find me there: @intothehallofbooks. Since Litsy is the best thing ever and doesn't use a silly algorithm like Instagram, my IG usage has dropped. And since I took the summer off, I haven't been on Twitter very much. So...you may (or may not) have wondered where I've been.

I'm here. I haven't gone anywhere. I've just been resting, meditating, spending time with my family, recharging. These things are so necessary for us all. Breaks are good from time to time. I can't say that I've forced myself to take such a long one before, but YAY for doing it and YAY for coming back.

It felt weird to pull my blog back up on the computer this morning after not being on here for so long. It feels weird to be writing my thoughts on this computer. I feel like I'm rambling. I AM rambling. But I'm happy to be doing it and I can't wait to share some of the things that I've been reading and doing with you guys.

Also, I'm so ready for fall! It's still way too hot here in North Carolina.

  1. It sounds like you've had an amazing summer and break. I acutally took a break this month of Aug. and I still don't feel ready to come back. I've been enjoying it a bit too much I think lol. I'm glad you've gotten to the part of your break where you miss blogging because that's when it's time to start up again. I'm sorry your dad and his health are things that you're having to worry about so much. Know that I'm still here if you ever need to talk. :) Now I'M rambling. Welcome back, Ash! Also, YES, HURRY UP FALL!
