What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He's a professional soccer player, America's favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley's already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.” (Goodreads)

My Thoughts:  Not too long ago, I was looking for a fun read and grabbed Scoring Wilder when I was browsing - I added the audiobook for an audio + print read and settled in. MY GOODNESS, what a great decision. I laughed and smiled and chuckled my way through this book and now I'm itching to read the rest of this author's work.

Meet Kinsley Bryant. She's quirky and maybe a little less-than-great at love, but she is a firecracker on the soccer field. I loved that she was not only at the top of her game, but we get to see how important this sport is to her and how hard she works for it. She loves her friends; her friendships are great ones and very important to her. And she is hilarious - I loved her one-liners, her comebacks, and her inner dialogue. Great, great main character. BONUS: the audiobook narrator is a perfect Kinsley, so doggone funny.

Meet Liam Wilder. He's a wildly famous pro soccer star. Liam is super good-looking and available BUT he has a big reputation for being a player off the field too. Liam needs to clean up his image a bit, which is how he came to be coaching Kinsley's soccer team. Kinsley and her teammates/friends LOVE that Liam is their coach because he is super easy on the eyes! But he is OFF-LIMITS to the team.

Kinsley knows this. So does Liam.

Of course, this doesn't keep Liam and Kinsley from being attracted to one another. And it doesn't keep them from falling in love. Before it even begins, their relationship is reduced to secrecy, quick glances, and stolen moments. These two have big, big things at stake if they get caught - professional careers, possible spots on the US Olympic Team, big things like that. So is LOVE worth risking everything?

Scoring Wilder is so much fun. Before I started the book, I heard that there is almost no angst, and YES to this. So true. It's just a couple faced with attraction and then love, and then do we want to figure out how to make this work? The only real drama comes from one of the side characters, a mean-girl, but Kinsley handles her every single time. I love that this particular romance/romantic comedy was just laid out there, just easy to read, easy to enjoy. Great secondary characters. Fun to listen to in audiobook format. Easy to recommend to other people. I love issues romances and I don't mind angst, but MAN it is refreshing to pick up a book without it sometimes.

I recommend Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey to readers that enjoy romantic comedies, college settings, and stories containing athletic characters.

Audiobook Notes: The audiobook format of Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey is published by Audible Studios and is 9 hours and 53 minutes, Unabridged. It is narrated by Jessica Almasy, who is hilarious in this role. Jessica's delivery of Kinsley's one-liners and banter and her hilarious inner dialogue was on-point, and it had me laughing out loud while I was walking around my house, cleaning and cooking. This was my first experience with Jessica's reading but based on this audiobook, I would absolutely try others with her narration. I would highly recommend this audiobook to readers for first reads or rereads of Scoring Wilder. I'm so glad that I bought it.

  1. I loved this one! I thought things could have wrapped up sooner (like the ending dragged on a bit), but I still enjoyed it so much because of the characters.

  2. I really enjoyed this one! I absolutely loved that there was no angst, and the romance was just so swoony and sexy! I didn't *love* Kelsey as a character, but she was funny at times and down to earth, and of course I really liked Liam. I wish the secondary couple had at least gotten their own novella. :)
