Ten Favorites From 2014

I'm excited that I met and surpassed my Goodreads Challenge by...a lot, actually. When I looked back over my books-read-this-year to find favorites, I had a hard time. My YA-Loving self decided to narrow it down to my favorite adult-fiction titles! (Annnnd still, I went over.)

My Top Two:
I Shall Be Near To You by Erin Lindsay McCabe
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid
One Plus One by Jojo Moyes

Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Shotgun Lovesongs by Nickolas Butler

Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
One Day by David Nicholls

*****************************************************

I always have a hard time picking favorites but I'm pretty solid with these choices for big kid books! Have you read any of these?

What are some of your favorites this year - any type of books? Leave me a link to your list because I'd LOVE to see?

  1. You have some really great books on here. Ready Player One and Time Traveler's Wife I read last year and they were probably my two favorite books of the year -- although Discovery of Witches was phenomenal too. Great list. Here's mine.

  2. From these I've only read One Plus One and it made my Top Reads list also. The rest will just have to be read because you loved them, which means I'll love them too. :D

  4. I didn't know you read The Time Traveler's Wife this year! That is one of the books that made me sob the hardest. I still think back on the end and get emotional. I LOVED I Shall Be Near to You and One Plus One this year as well. A Discovery of Witches and Son of the Shadows are favorites from previous years. I'd like to read Burial Rites, Forever, Interrupted & Shotgun Lovesongs. I am embarrassed to say that though I think the cover is GORGEOUS, I don't know anything about Under the Wide and Starry Sky. I shall look that up! I'm loving seeing everyone's lists today.

  5. what a great list & I'm so glad that it's all adult :) I read Ready Player One, too (or listened on audio) and it was really great. Can't wait to read Shotgun Lovesongs. Carrie read it & loved it, too.

  6. I loved Burial Rites so much, so I'm glad to see it made your list as well! Son of the Shadows actually wasn't my favorite of the series back when I read it in high school, but I've been meaning to return to Sevenwaters and see if my thoughts have changed over the years. I'm just so happy to see so many people reading this series right now. :) And I will read I Shall Be Near to You soon. It sounds like something I will love, so fingers crossed!
I love the variety of books you picked for this! I'll have to look into some I haven't heard of as well, like Under the Wide and Starry Sky (such a gorgeous cover!). And Shotgun Lovesongs. I'm pretty sure that was actually written by a local-ish resident in Wisconsin. So of course I have to find out more about that as well!

  8. This is one of my favorite lists I've seen today!! The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my top ten books of all times! I have I Shall Be Near To You and am going to read over Christmas break. It's actually at my family's house, which I'll be visiting this next week! I have the first book in the Sevenwaters trilogy and I also want to read Burial Rites. I own Landline but haven't gotten to it yet! Oh and also One Plus One!! Have to read that! Was A Discovery of Witches good? Would you compare it to anything?? -Katie

  13. I love that you focused on adult fiction! I really liked Landline, Discovery of Witches and RPO. I have the audio of Shotgun Lovesongs and will be listening to that too. One Plus One is on my wish list. And I hear such good things about Taylor Jenkins Reid's books. You had a great year in reading - hope 2015 is just as good!
