6. The Babysitter's Club Series by Ann M. Martin

7. The Sweet Valley Twins Series by Francine Pascal

8. The Nancy Drew Mystery Series by Carolyn Keene

14. The books of Christopher Pike

These are just some of my favorites from my young years up through my middle grade years. While I LOVED The Babysitter's Club books and Sweet Valley Twins books a ton, I'd have to say that the Laura Ingalls books and the Anne of Green Gables series both hold the Blue Ribbon Spot in my heart!

ALSO: I used to devour the R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike books like crazy - probably because the rest of my friends did as well. I blame my non-love of horror and thriller books/stories today on the chills these books gave me when I was younger. Despite reading them nearly constantly, I couldn't leave them with their covers exposed in my room - I had to have them either in my backpack where I could NOT see them or I had to cover them with a shirt or something - they completely creeped me out! (Probably an indication that I didn't need to be reading them, right?)

What are some of your favorite books from childhood and your middle grade years? There are a ton I could've put on this list!

Also, please leave your links - I'd love to visit your blogs!

  1. I LOVED the Sweet Valley High books. Jessica was my idol! I also read every Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary book. Another series I loved was Encyclopedia Brown. Did you ever read those? I learned how to use steam to open an envelope from that series. :)

  3. Wow, what a great list. I'd have to say you're leaving out one great series though... The Boxcar Children!!

Feel free to check out my list at Books Are My Thing.

  4. I barely read anything else but Fear Street books when I was in fourth grade. I couldn't get enough of them. But I also loved Roald Dahl, too. Especially Matilda!!

  5. I loved SO MANY of these books! I was beyond obsessed with Nancy Drew for YEARS. I also loved Little House, BSC, Beverly Cleary, and Boxcar Children. I went through a short period of loving the Sweet Valley books but then my mom read one and thought Jessica was too bratty - or something; I don't remember exactly - and would thus rub off on me? So I wasn't allowed to read them anymore, LOL.

  6. Um, I don't know why I just listed Boxcar Children, since you did not, in fact, mention it, haha! I guess I just always associate it with that time of my life. :)
