Ten Books You Read When You Need
Something Light or Fun!

Is it just me or was this a particularly hard topic this week?
I don't really read that many "light" books! :)

BUT...I did try to make this one
contemporary-themed to go along with my
Contemporary Month
Be sure to read all the way to the bottom.

1. Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Adam, I love you forever
with your perfect male POV and your rock-star image
that you don't care about, your broken heart.
Perhaps part of that love comes from the person
that voiced you on the audiobook.
At any rate, it's love.

2. Never Forget by Emma Hart

This book just kind of blew into my life recently
and I love the story so much that I promise you I think about
re-reading it at least once a day.

It's a SUPER FUN New Adult with everything in it we love:
post-graduation coming-of-age, great friendships,
great family relationships, fun setting, and hello swoony slow-burn
I'm featuring this one in just days on the blog
during this Contemporary Event and I can't wait.

3. Irresistible by Liz Bankes

This is how this book opens:

"Jamie Elliot-Fox is toxic."

I wrote that in my diary in the middle of last summary. To warn myself. In case I got sucked in. In case I let myself fall for it. In case I unleashed a whole load of trouble. But I still did.

YES that sounds fun. And it is. Re-read, please!

4. Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway

Laugh-out-loud hilarious, music themes, great family dynamic,
great crush. Just all-around fun story. FUN.

Also, there are music lyrics in there, and not bad music either.
(Lookin at you, Anberlin.)

5. If You Stay by Courtney Cole

You know what? Sometimes books are just fun
because there's a hot mess of a guy in there.
I love it when a broken boy cleans himself up
and makes some changes.
This is one of the best examples of a bad boy going good
I think I've ever read.

**********************************************************

6. VAIN by Fisher Amelie

This one is definitely not really light and fluffy, but it is certainly fun.
There's a hot guy. Even with all of the social issues and real-world stuff
going on, Ian Aberdeen is super fun and hot.
Plus the Glitch Mob makes an appearance. :)

7. Being Friends With Boys by Terra Elan McVoy

This book makes me feel happy and good and I love it so much.

**********************************************************

8. On The Island by Tracey Garvis Graves

This book is one of those books you can just pull out
anytime of the day, any day of the week
and whatever else you had going on will just have to wait.
I've read it in one sitting every time I've read it and the
story just keeps getting better each time.

9. Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols
Unbreak My Heart by Melissa Walker
My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Something Like Normal by Trish Doller

ALL OF THE PERFECT CONTEMPORARIES.
ALL OF THEM.

**************************************************

10. Close Enough To Touch by Victoria Dahl
Chasing Perfect by Susan Mallery

WOW I didn't realize the adult contemporary romance books
could be so much fun but doggone it, they are!
I'm super new with these, but you should see the stack I already
have by my bed ready and waiting for me!
(AND on the Kindle. It's almost ridiculous. I love it.)

**************************************************

Light and Fun do not always mean the same thing
to me. Sometimes the "fun" books have some
of what other people would consider big issues.
But I think they're really fun to read and go back
to them over and over.

What makes YOUR "light" and "fun" list?
I thought this topic was particularly hard for me. :)

Leave me your link so I can visit
and check out what you chose for YOUR list today!

  2. I don't really read "light and fun" books. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who had difficulties with this topic.

  10. For me light and fun means a book that I will re-read again, and not necessarily a issue free storyline. I agree with you there. I also loved many of your picks above, though several of them are just a tad too heavy for me to want to pick up and re-read a lot. Where She Went, Vain and On The Island are definitely favorites. I also really liked My Life Next Door and Something LIke Normal. Going Too Far actually made my list this week too.

  11. Great list, the only one I've read is Where She Went but I have Something Like Normal on my wishlist!

    My Top 10 Tuesday!

  12. Where She Went? LIGHT? I cried like a baby when reading that, but maybe it's just me. Just One Day is probably Gayle Forman's "lightest" contemporary IMO, but I just LOVE Where She Went. So, so good. And I recently read my first Dahl novel and she is a RIOT. It was so relaxing to read during a stressful week of exams!(:

  13. This was actually a really easy topic for me. I am always drawn to the lighter funnier books. I have seen Audrey Wait on a top of TTTs today. I seriously need to read that book!

I will definitely check out some of your other picks.
