In My Mailbox {9}

Hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren. She uses this time to tell about the books she receives each week either to review, from the library, or from a purchase. Kristi is kind enough to let us all in on her fun and here is my little piece of that!

Y'all I'm terrible at doing IMM's. I should do them weekly because I move books like nobody's business. But I am a lazybones where IMM is concerned. I really think that VERY SOON I am going to make a resolution to get much better about it. I'll let y'all know when I do that...be watching for the announcement...  :)

  1. Holy poo Asheley that is a crap load of books, LOL!!! I really enjoyed Shatter Me, but wasn't crazy about the end. I can't wait to read The Fault in Our Stars, Tempest, and Partials. I still need to buy Forbidden since everyone talks about how amazing it is. Happy reading and enjoy all those books!

    1. I really liked Tempest but I really like the whole sci-fi thing in books. I LOVED Shatter Me. I'm excited about Partials and I'm terrified of The Fault In Our Stars...would you believe I've been able to stay away from the plot summary and all reviews so far? I have NO IDEA what that book is about!!

  2. Wow that is a TON of books!! I see a lot of wonderful ones in there that I can't wait to read! Partials was really, really good :) Enjoy!

  3. Hi Asheley, I have to agree with all the comments mentioned above - that was a LOT of books! Wow indeed. I see a few familiar titles. I'v read Switched by Amanda Hocking and will be posting my review this week (so-so). I could see that you also bought a copy of John Green's new book (I've been seeing it around in quite a number of mailboxes). Jane Eyre is a personal favorite of mine. Nice to have a classic interspersed along with some YA titles every now and again. I'm also interested with the Henrietta Lacks title. Amen about loving Goodwill and shopping in used bookstores! I lovelovelove being able to find treasures amongst the riffraff. I can see that you're a fellow bookhunter/bounty hunter. :)

    1. I *LOVE* getting books used and at my Goodwill! I find the best books there sometimes, and so inexpensive! The Henrietta Lacks book was a hardback copy in perfect condition and I only paid $1.50 for it!

  7. HOLY SHIZ.

Okay, the Jane Eyre retelling has a gorgeous cover AND sounds super rad to boot.

YOU BOUGHT ORIGAMI YODA! HOORAY! I love Tom Angelberger tons and tons.

Can't wait to dissect your thoughts with Ginger and myself over WHERE THINGS COME BACK. We're ready when you are, my dear.

    Happy reading!

    1. Lisa, the Jane Eyre retelling is an abnormally beautiful ARC. I just keep touching it because of its perfect trade paperback size and gorgeous cover. You know how these things mean so much to me. I may be a little bit shallow.

And Origami Yoda is SO CUTE. I couldn't resist.

I am literally looking at Where Things Come Back right now and I want to read it so much. I WILL gain the courage...I will. I will. Soon.

I totally agree about shopping at thrift stores for books; I usually make some great finds! Sarah's Key was amazing; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. The movie is really good too.

  12. Wow, that's a lot!

Haha, I know what you mean with being to lazy to do a IMM every week. I always shoot for one every two weeks. Or three. *sigh*

Anyway, you got a lot of awesome reads there, so enjoy! (:

  13. Partials sounds interesting.
I'm thinking of getting Switched by Amanda Hocking to see what all the fuss is about.
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants & that series are one of my favourite realistic YA series. I hope you enjoy them too.

My IMM is a bit like yours this week: I kept not posting over the Christmas break because I thought people wouldn't be around to see things, and then I was away last week, so now I have a whole bunch of books in one group! You can see them here.

  16. LOL, so I'm scrolling and scrolling.. wow, you really do need to start doing these every week. tee hee.

Partials looks really good.. I love any apocolyptic stuff. YOu have so many books up there, I don't know what ones to mention.

Oh, but you have Forbidden.. this book is intense. You can handle it though, I read it before I started reading Contemporary. Won it on Goodreads and reviewed it. I really loved it.. it's one of those books that makes you really think.. It's sad, it's emotionaly, taboo, all that jazz.. I gave my arc away and went and bought a finished copy. One of my fav reads from last year, for sure.. I'm interested to see what you will think of it. :)

    1. Yeah Forbidden...I know that one will be tough, especially since I'm new to the contemps and totally afraid of any type of over-emotion in books whatsoever. But I totally plan on reading it because I heard it is good and makes you think...we'll see!

      Also really excited about Partials...

  17. Wow, the length of this list is crazy awesome! Oh my gosh Forbidden - I reeally want to read this...it sounds a bit like Flowers in the Attic, no? Also, I lurved Time Traveler's Wife and hope you enjoy it to pieces!

  18. WOW So many great books that you have here! I am excited to see what you think of Nevermore. Also excited to see what you think of Eat Pray Love -- I have seen a lot of blogger-hate for it, but I honestly love it and have read it three or four times. And I am hoping to steal Sarah's Key from my sister soon -- I've heard great things about it! And The Fault In Our Stars... hooray! I think that is my favorite book that i have never read. I am still waiting for the library hold list to work it's way through to me, but everything I've heard about that book just makes me want to hug it. I am working with kids who have cancer right now, so I just can't wait to read it and cry my eyes out. Have fun with all of your books!

I totally agree about books at Goodwill! I found a copy of Uglies which I've been on the lookout for since forever a few weeks ago. As I was about to leave I looked at the shelf again and just about screamed when I saw Thirteen Reasons Why as I freaking love that book.
Holy crap you had quite the good week for contests too! Needless to say, I'm a little jealous of your IMM this week :P
